Course Description
Candidates for a Physics PhD program are typically graduates from previous degree programs that provided a necessary basis of knowledge in mathematics and science. Some specializations for Physics PhD programs can include condensed matter physics, atomic physics, molecular physics, optical physics, geophysics, biophysics, high energy/particle physics, and astrophysics.
Practical applications for specific theoretical training and skills practiced in a Physics PhD program can include engineering, product development, consulting, teaching and more. Applied physics is the area of research intended for use, but all Physics PhD topics are considered valuable contributions to our knowledge of the world. In addition to a dissertation, duties and expectations for a Physics PhD candidate may include assisting with other ongoing research projects, publications, and to assist in teaching undergraduate courses.
